Swansea did not deserve to win after poor first-half display, admits Laudrup

The Swans boss was frustrated with his side as, following an abject first-half display, Norwich consigned them to a 4-3 defeat and put an abrupt end to a six-game unbeaten run

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has admitted his team did not deserve to beat Norwich City after a poor first-half display.

An abject opening 45 minutes saw the Swans 3-0 down at the break after goals from Steven Whittaker, Sebastien Bassong and Grant Holt.

Even a spirited second-half performance was not enough to salvage anything from the game, as a double from Michu and a goal from Jonathan de Guzman were cancelled out by Robert Snodgrass' excellent free kick – and Laudrup was happy to admit that his side were below-par.

"We did not play well. It was a great reaction in the second half, but, obviously, when you give away three goals, it is difficult," he told Sky Sports.

"It was a great second half but I do not think we deserved to win after that first half."

The defeat put an end to a six-game unbeaten run for Swansea and, having overcome Arsenal and picked up points against Liverpool and Chelsea, Laudrup believed his side were eventually going to falter.

"I knew a reaction would come to all the good things that have happened recently, the great wins," he continued.

"I did not know it would come today but it did. So I think it should be a lesson for us."
