The former Tottenham and Sunderland striker became Aston Villa’s record signing when he joined the club for a reported £24 million in January 2011.
However, the England international has been placed firmly out of the first-team picture at Villa Park this term, having been stripped of the club captaincy at the start of the season and been given a limited number of appearances since.

When asked if there was any interest in the forward, Lambert told reporters: "No, none."
The 28-year-old front man has been linked with a move away from the Villans for some time now, with Harry Redknapp’s QPR touted as a likely destination.
But when asked if he wanted to sell the striker, the Villa boss replied: "No.”
“My job is to pick, as I always say, a team and a group of lads that I think can win a game, and that's my main focus, and not any other deviation of anything else."
