'We are good enough for fourth' - Fellaini backs Everton for Champions League qualification

With the Toffees enjoying their best start to a season since the last time they qualified for Europe's elite club competition, their talisman talked up his team-mates' quality

Marouane Fellaini has backed Everton to finish in the Premier League top four this season and qualify for the Champions League.

The Belgium international has been central to the Toffees' fine start to the new league campaign, with the club currently sitting just three points off fourth place following their best start to a season since they last finished fourth in 2004-05.

However, a number of missed chances in front of goal proved costly for David Moyes’ men during Saturday’s defeat to Reading, and Fellaini is adamant that his side will need to improve their finishing if they are to continue their early challenge for Europe’s elite club competition.

“We are good enough for fourth,” the 24-year-old told talkSPORT. “We create a lot of chances, we just need to score more goals.

“You must be winning matches against Reading. It’s difficult at the moment but the team has the talent to win those sorts of game.

“Everybody wants to play in the Champions League. If you want to play in the Champions League then you have to want to win every game in the Premier League.”
