Marseille midfielder Joey Barton has slammed the FA, claiming that the English football governing body have a "vendetta" against him.
The outburst follows the news that Barton's first game for the French club - after joining from QPR on a season-long loan - will not count towards a 12-game ban he incurred last season.
The 30 year-old took to Twitter to vent his frustration over now being forced to serve 13 games for his violent conduct toward Vincent Kompany & Sergio Aguero in the Rs' final game of last season, a 3-2 defeat to Manchester City.
He wrote: “So my 12 match ban is now a 13 match ban. You gotta love the English FA? Well, no actually you don't!
“Ban has been extended as when I signed for Marseille on Friday 31st, the English FA where closed over the weekend and couldn't be bothered ...registering me until the 3/4th. So the game L'OM v Rennes couldn't count as one of my games suspended.
“Its so ludicrous a decision, its .like they have some hidden agenda/vendetta against me? Oh, sh** yeah I forgot, they actually do.
“Life's to good to ponder such things for to long. I know who you are. You know who you are. Would I swap with you? Nope. #sadlittlemen.”
The FA are expected to investigate the Huyton-born midfielder's comments.
