thumbnail Hello,

The defender praised the Potters' "amazing" backing, saying there are no better supporters, and admitted that the atmosphere played a huge part in their vital win against QPR

Stoke defender Andy Wilkinson has stated that the club has the best fans in the world after the Potters notched their second win of the Premier League season with a 1-0 win over QPR.

The industrious defender was quick to mention the atmosphere at the Britannia Stadium after the win pushed Tony Pulis' side to a more comfortable mid-table position in front of a season-high attendance of 27,529.

Wilkinson told the club's official website: "They're amazing, aren't they? I know it was a bit tense, but they're always behind us. They're the best fans in the world.

"We needed them behind us, and once we got the goal the pressure was off a bit and it was nice for everybody.

"The performances have been good - we didn't play as well as we could have today, but we got the result. We're buzzing with the result though and hopefully now we can take that confidence forward."

The 28-year-old also praised team-mate Charlie Adam, who scored the decisive goal for the Potters to earn all three points, and says the deliveries put in by the former Liverpool and Blackpool man should create more goals for strikers such as Peter Crouch.

"There's no doubting Charlie's ability, and it's good for him and his confidence that he's got off the mark with a goal. His performance have been good and hopefully he can get some more goals for us in the future," Wilkinson added.

"He scored goals at Blackpool, but his delivery is great as well - hopefully he can get some assists for 'Crouchy' and a few of the others. He will be a great player for us."
