thumbnail Hello,

In the wake of their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Saturday, the Canaries have conceded nine goals in just two games, and their manager says much improvement is needed

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has urged his side’s defence to improve following heavy defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Liverpool in their last two Premier League encounters.

The Canaries conceded nine goals across the two matches and have failed to win a top-flight game this season.

And the former Newcastle boss has explained his worry ahead of his side’s Premier League fixture with Arsenal in two weeks’ time.

"Is it a worry? Yes it is. Because we're conceding too many goals," Hughton told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"We have no choice but to do something about it. We need to do that in our next game.

“Of course I'm concerned. For any team to concede nine goals in two games is a worry. It's something we need to do something about. It's about getting back to where we were for the games before that.

"We've had a real test in the last couple of games. I was probably more disappointed last week at home to Liverpool. Because I knew Chelsea would cause us problems and it's about how you cope with it."

Norwich currently sit 19th in the Premier League table but, with just four points separating the bottom four teams, Hughton admits that his side’s results need to improve soon.

"Where we're fortunate is there are a group of teams around us that have also found it difficult to get points," he continued.

"We need to make sure we are able to go through a better spell - sooner rather than later."
