The summer signing feels he put in a strong display when forced to play in defence against Aston Villa and is willing to help out the team again if required by manager Alan PardewNewcastle midfielder Vurnon Anita has revealed that is he happy to continue operating at right-back after a series of injuries left the club short in defence.
Alan Pardew has problems in the position after Danny Simpson joined Ryan Taylor and James Perch on the sidelines when he limped out of the Magpies' 1-1 draw with Aston Villa in the first half.

Anita replaced Simpson against Paul Lambert's side and delivered an effective display and has spoken of his readiness to operate from defence again if he is called on to do so.
He told the club's official website: "We have got two injuries on that side, so if the manager needs me on that side, I will do my best for the team.
"It went well against Aston Villa. As a right-back you can come forward a lot, so I did that also and yes, I think it was a good performance.
"Central midfield is my position, so the main focus is on the midfield, but if the manager needs me on the right side, I can also play there."
Next up for Newcastle is a trip to Goodison Park on Monday night to take on Everton.
