Khairy Jamaluddin made comments after the incident which happened after the match between Perak and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) at the Perak Stadium, which involved supporters.

According to Bernama, Jamaluddin stated “If the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) give the punishment quickly, all the teams will be more responsible to ensure the behaviour of their fans.”

Khairy also stated that the FAM and the police should tighten security during and after all M-League matches to avoid such incidents.

“Even though we have enough personnel and security officers to monitor fans and supporters during matches, both the FAM and police must play an active role in this issue,” he added.

The incident that happened in Perak caused injuries to two media representatives from NSTP Group and Sinar Harian.

The Federal Reserve Unit also fired tear gas and used water cannons to disperse Perak fans who had turned unruly after the match.

“Security and safety is the responsibility of the home team. Therefore, if the fans act violently, the team will have to bear the consequences as well,” added Khairy.
