The Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) defender has been selected as the new captain for the Malayan Tigers team under interim boss Dato’ Ong Kim Swee.
The 27-year-old defender was the answer to the question that has been playing in Malaysian football fans minds ever since Kim Swee hinted that he would appoint a new captain.
Meanwhile, Kelantan goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, also known as Apek, will be the vice-captain.
Aidil will replace fellow JDT player Safiq Rahim as the captain after the latter had been holding the role under Datuk K.Rajagopal’s reign for the past years.
Aidil made his debut for the national senior team on July 18th 2007 in a friendly game game against Cambodia, and he also scored during the game. However, Aidil has been playing for the national set-up since he was 14 years old and has also represented Malaysia in various tournament such as the AFC Youth Championship, Merdeka Tournament and the 2008 Olympic Games qualifiers.
In club football, Aidil started his career with Negeri Sembilan where his brother Zaquan Adha and him helped the team to win their first Malaysia Super League title.
Both of them moved to ATM in 2012 and helped ATM to win the Malaysia Premier League 2012 before they switched to their current club, JDT, while Zaquan is playing for JDT II.
Aidil currently has 57 caps under his name with the national team, and surely will remain as a key player in the team for a long time.
