Real Sociedad - Villarreal Betting Preview: Back the hosts to score at least twice

Our man in Spain, Phil Kitromilides, has hit winners every day this week and, on Thursday night, he believes that La Real can continue their fine recent scoring form
One of the ties of the Copa del rey's round of 16 sees two of La Liga's most attractive sides meet for a place in the quarter-finals. After a torrid start to the season La Real are now flying, with their success in the Basque derby last time out their fifth successive league win.

The side from San Sebastian are very much in the hunt to claim fourth spot for the second successive year, yet Villarreal also harbor hopes of a return to the Champions League. The Yellow Submarine have already put in impressive performances against La Liga's top three sides, drawing with both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid and narrowly losing at Barcelona.

William Hill price the side from Castellon at 21/10 (3.10) to claim a win in the Basque Country on Thursday evening, with Real Sociedad offered at 7/5 (2.40).

Naturally, with two attacking exciting sides meeting, the temptation is to back both teams to score. Yet this is offered at just 8/13 (1.62), which is a price only worthy of consideration from the most serious of punters.

Instead, backing La Real to score over 1.5 goals at 23/20 (2.15) looks to be a much more attractive option. This bet has paid out 13 times in competitive fixtures this season involving the Basques including in each of their last four matches.

Furthermore Villarreal have conceded two or more goals in four of their last five games, meaning that there is a great chance of this selection proving to be a correct one, once more.
