Both Kelantan and Selangor will be facing delicate ties in next year's edition of the AFC Cup competition after the draw pitted them in tricky groupsMalaysian sides will be in for a strong challenge in the AFC Cup competition after both Kelantan and Selangor were handed intricate ties for the group stages.
At the draw, which was held in Kuala Lumpur earlier today, Selangor were placed in Group F, which also included Arema Indonesia and Maziya from Maldives. The other one slot will either be Hanoi T&T or SHB Da Nang from Vietnam.
Maziya in particular, will provide a tough test of credibility for Selangor as they have traditionally done well in the competition. But beyond that, Arema Indonesia should also be a tough place to visit.
As for Kelantan, they were given a tougher group in Group G, alongside Yangon United, Ninh Binh or South China FC of China. Having said that, South China will be contesting in the AFC Champions League play-off and if they do make it through that, Pegasus Sun FC will take over their spot.
All three foreign teams in Kelantan's group are national champions in their respective league, which clearly amplifies their capabilities as a team.
Group Stage matches will take place between February 25 to April 23, followed by the knock-out rounds in the following months. The final is scheduled to be held on the 1st of November 2014.
