Neighbours Perak's loss has become Selangor's gain, and Sarawak's hope for Australian Ryan Griffiths hits a snag
In an event held by the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) to introduce their new head coach; Mehmet Durakovic at the One World Hotel yesterday, the Red Giants also confirmed their new signings for the 2014 season. FAS deputy president; Mokhtar Ahmad announced that they have secured the services of Perak's Shahrom Kalam, Abdul Hadi Yahya, and Farizal Marlias; Malaysia Under 23 national team's Thamil Arasu and Hazwan Bakri. Also will be playing for Selangor next season are Nazri Ahmad, Negeri Sembilan's Hamsani Ahmad and Kelantan's Rizal Fahmi Rosid, and Brazilian import Junior de Souza.
He also confirmed that the 32-time Malaysia Cup champions have extended the contracts of Fitri Shazwan, Bunyamin Omar, Raimi Nor and Shukor Jusoh.
Mokhtar's announcement came on top of our confirmation earlier that Perak's Brazilian import Paulo Rangel has signed for Selangor, and the rumour that Malaysia striker Safee Sali is set to don Selangor colours again next season. However, Selangor are still expected to sign more players as the current transfer window is still open.
|WHAT THE NEWS ARE SAYING|
Former Newcastle United Jets and Beijing Baxy forward; Ryan Griffiths who was earlier reported to be in 2013 Premier League winners Sarawak's radar, on Saturday hinted through his Twitter account that the move may not materialise after all. He hinted that the failure is due to technicalities on Football Association of Malaysia's side, but he has not clarified on the specific reason so far.
