Our Spanish tipster Phil Kitromilides explains why an each way bet on the Basques at 40/1 offers tremendous value in this cup competitionWith the early rounds of this season's Copa del Rey taking place this week during which sides from the third and fourth tiers of Spanish football meet, it is a good chance for us to take a preemptive look at the market for outright winner. BetVictor are currently offering best prices about all three of the top teams in this market.

The Copa in recent years has made something of a comeback in terms of its importance for Spain's big two and Barca along with Real Madrid have taken the competition seriously making genuine attempts to win it.
Madrid who are offered at 2/1 (3.00) to lift the trophy, will have just about gotten over the ignominy of losing May's final to neighbors Atletico in their own stadium, and new manager Carlo Ancelotti may see this tournament as the best way of winning some silverware in his first season.
The current holders meanwhile can be backed at 10/1 (11.00) with Valencia available at 12/1 (13.00).
However, further down the market, the price of 40/1 (41.00) for Athletic Bilbao looks extremely tempting for an each way investment.
The Basques have started the season well and have a long a proud tradition in the cup.
Unlike Atletico, Valencia, Real Sociedad, Sevilla and Real Betis, the side from Bilbao have no European campaign to distract them or deplete their squad.
Runners up in two of the last five seasons, Athletic have a great chance of making the final if the draw is kind to them an each way investment at the current price would return 20/1 (21.00) for them to do so. (BetVictor's each way terms mean they are paying half the odds for the team who comes second) That certainly looks like a fantastic investment for a value bet.
