Players up and down the country got their first taste of Premier League football in England as the first matches of the league season were played.
Iago Aspas made his first Liverpool appearance against Stoke on Saturday and linked up well with his new team-mate but was unable to find the back of the net on his debut.
Antonio Luna had an eventful afternoon at the Emirates Stadium later in the day as Aston Villa shocked Arsenal by running away with a 3-1 win. Luna bagged an unlikely goal on his debut after springing off on a counterattack and tucking a composed finish past Wojciech Szczesny.
Meanwhile, Paulinho picked up the man of the match award for his display against Crystal Palace. The Brazilian put in a vibrant and energetic display and always looked to drive forward towards the hosts' penalty area.
Elsewhere, Kevin De Bruyne bagged an assist on his first Premier League start for Chelsea. His passing, movement and internchange within the Blues midfield was effortless and effective, a promising sign for the season ahead.
Fernandinho also caught the eye on Monday with a box-to-box showing against Newcastle, displaying his athleticism, strength and an eye for a pass as Manuel Pellegrini's side cruised to victory.
