TMJ to focus more on M-League rather than Malaysia Cup

President of JFA, Tunku Ismail Ibrahim, admitted that he does not have high hopes in the Malaysia Cup for both Johor outfits

President of Johor Football Association (JFA), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ), is hoping that both Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) and Johor FA can show good performances when the Malaysia Cup campaign starts on August 20.

However, TMJ admitted that they are focusing more in strengthening both teams for the M-League next season.

According to Sinar Harian, TMJ said: "Honesty I don’t have high hopes for the Malaysia Cup, but I want both teams to be at their best.

"I am more focusing on preparing the team for the M-League next season.

"Whatever the result we will accept it.

"We know our position, and if we win, that’s great, but I will be satisfied if we can be in the top three."

TMJ is also optimistic and has promised to work hard to make sure the football in Johor will continue to grow and develop well.

"So far they have done their best and the level of football shown by Johor FA is also better than previous years.

"I will work hard to strengthen the teams and improve the development of the state’s football in the future," he added.

JDT has been drawn with PKNS FC, T-Team and Felda United in Group B while Johor FA are in Group A alongside ATM, Selangor and Sime Darby FC.
