The 71-year-old has taken up the role of a director and ambassador at the club, but will his presence have a negative impact on the incoming Scot?
David Moyes faces the media for the first time as Manchester United manager on Friday afternoon and the Scot is inevitably set to face questions regarding his predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 71-year-old ended his 26-year reign at Old Trafford at the end of last season but will remain involved with the club as a director and ambassador.
But while Sir Alex will not be involved with the day-to-day running of first-team affairs, the Scot's trophy-laden career and management style will likely be compared with Moyes' approach to the running of the United squad.
Reports suggest Sir Alex could opt to stay away from Old Trafford for the early part of Moyes' tenure, particularly his first home game in charge against Chelsea on August 24.
But in the long term, how will Sir Alex's presence at United have an impact on Moyes' management at United?
