European Weekend Treble: Wins for Real Sociedad, Arsenal and Rennes

Jonathan Day has analysed the weekend's action and has three tips which return better than 4/1. They include Arsenal to record another win against struggling Aston Villa

Tip: Real Sociedad to win at 9/10 (1.90) with bet365

Monday night’s comprehensive 4-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano propelled Real Sociedad into the top half of the table, and that victory included two goals from former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela.

Philippe Montanier’s side have been formidable at home this season conceding just three goals in the Basque country and they have used this solid defensive foundation to win four out of six games at the Estadio Anoeta.

Vela has found his shooting boots in recent weeks scoring three goals in the last two games, but it’s Mikel Gonzalez who has marshalled the backline so effectively for Real Sociedad.

Visitors Osasuna languish in the relegation zone and the lack of goals has been deeply concerning for coach Jose Luis Mendilibar, whose side are the joint lowest scorers in the division, but Los Rojillos have at least showed signs of recovery in the last two weeks.

Osasuna have been poor on the road this season overall though, and Real Sociedad have every chance of recording their third win on the bounce on Friday.

Aston Villa
Kick off: Saturday, November 24 at 17:30 GMT
Tip: Arsenal to win at 4/6 (1.67) with bet365

Last weekend’s 5-0 defeat at Etihad Stadium was Aston Villa’s seventh defeat of the season as the Villains slipped into the relegation zone.

Paul Lambert’s side have won just once in eight games and the alarm bells are once again beginning to ring out around Villa Park.

Christian Benteke has been impressive since arriving in the Midlands, but the Belgium international may not receive too much of the ball on Saturday with Arsenal prone to dominating possession.

The Gunners secured a vital derby win over Tottenham last weekend, a result which moved Arsene Wenger's men up to sixth place.

Summer signings Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla are creeping back into the form they showed early on, whilst French striker Oliver Giroud appears to be growing in confidence with every game.

Arsenal have scored eight goals in the last two Premier League games and the Gunners look set to give Aston Villa another stern test on Saturday.

Kick off: Sunday, November 24 at 19:00 GMT
Tip: Rennes to win at 8/13 (1.61) with bet365

Rennes’ unstoppable run of form continued last weekend as they overcame Paris Saint-Germain despite being reduced to nine men.

Frederic Antonetti’s side have won six of their last seven games in Ligue 1 and although Rennes sit in seventh place, they remain just three points behind leaders Lyon.

Midfielder Romain Alessandrini has impressed since arriving from Clermont Foot over the summer and along with Yann M’Vila and Mevlut Erdinc, Antonetti has a side fully capable of securing a European place this season.

Visitors Evian have lost seven times in the league this season, but the second-half comeback against Saint Etienne last weekend pointed to revised hope for Pascal Dupraz’s side.

Captain Cedric Barbosa continues to be the inspiration for Evian but they look set to fall short of their ninth placed finish last season.

Rennes have won their last three games in the league and last weekend’s dramatic victory over a star-studded Paris Saint-Germain should spur on Les Rouges et Noirs to yet more success.
