A third home match in a row sees them face Denmark this evening, and if the Bulgarians have any hopes of claiming at least a play-off place, this is the type of match they must win.
Yet William Hill price the home side as the outsiders, offering odds of 2/1 (3.00) on Bulgaria claiming the three points, while Denmark can be backed at 6/4 (2.50) and the draw offered at 21/10 (3.10).
Denmark for their part began their qualifying campaign in steady enough fashion drawing 0-0 with Czech Republic, but having made it through to this summer's European Championships, expectation levels in the Scandinavian country have risen.
One thing that Morten Olsen's side have been able to do recently is score goals, with the Danes finding the net in six of their last seven matches.
They managed to score in each of their encounters at Euro 2012 against formidable opposition in the form of Portugal, Holland and Germany respectively. They also found the net in a friendly against Brazil earlier on this year.
The Danes, however, have kept only one clean sheet in their last four matches while Bulgaria have scored in five of their last six games. All the above therefore points to both teams scoring and the price of 10/11 (1.91) looks to offer unmissable value.
For some slightly higher odds back over 1.5 goals to be scored in the first-half at 5/2 (3.50). This bet has paid out in Bulgaria's recent home game with Italy as well as in Denmark's matches against Germany and Portugal, and with both teams looking likely to score this evening, backing at least two goals in the first could be a wise value bet.
