The Al Khor striker, whose ambition is playing for Qatar national team, has pointed out the QSL's development in recent years, adding that there's even more to come

Indonesia-born Al Khor striker Syaffarizal Mursalin Agri has declared he wants to play for the Qatari national team.

The 19-year-old Al Khor player, who moved to the Gulf country from Indonesia aged four, is considered one of Qatar's hottest prospects for the future having already represented the West Asian nation at youth level.

However, the young striker has personal ambitions too for the next season, with the dream of playing soon for the senior national team.

“At a personal level, I want to be with the senior team. I want to contribute well. I want to gain in experience,” he told the Qatar Stars League website.

“Having said that, I want the team to do really well. In the future, I hope to have the opportunity to play for the Qatar team.”

Agri added that he definitely considers his home country to be Qatar where he has been raised.

“I have studied here and I feel at home in this country. It is a fabulous place," he said.

He added: “I think the difference is that in Qatar you can move from place to another very quickly whereas in a country like Indonesia, that is not easily possible because it is a large country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Agri also praised the growth of the Qatar Stars League, which he believes has significantly improved.

“Five years ago, many used to talk about the weaknesses in the Qatar Stars League set up. But that has all changed now,” he said.

“Al Sadd, the QSL side, won the AFC Champions League title last year. That shows that QSL sides are really great. They can compete at the Asian level.”

“At a personal level, I want to be with the senior team. I want to contribute well. I want to gain in experience,” he added.

“Having said that, I want the team to do really well. In the future, I hope to have the opportunity to play for the Qatar team.”
