The talented young Bafana Bafana midfielder believes that his future in the Netherlands is bright, and looks forward to success at club level

South Africa midfielder Thulani Serero believes he still has great future with Ajax Amsterdam, despite an underwhelming first season.

Serero transferred to Ajax Amsterdam from Ajax Cape Town at the beginning of last season, and despite starting well with De Godenzonen, he fell out of favour with coach Frank de Boer, fuelling speculation around his future with the Dutch giants.

Speaking to KickOff.com, Serero says he had a positive conversation with the head coach before the club closed for the off season.

"We spoke to the coach," the 22-year-old explaind. "There was talk about the possibility of me going out on loan, but he wants me to stay at Ajax Amsterdam next season. We will see when we open for the new season."

Serero said that he enjoyed his first season in Europe, even though he has not made a great impact.

"I started well, but I was disturbed by the injuries," he said. "I am ready to fight for game-time next season."

The player says more time on the pitch would be a positive for him and Bafana Bafana.

"That is not only going to be good for me but also for the country, with the Afcon tournament coming to South Africa next year."

Serero played one of his best games for Bafana against Gabon in Mbombela last Friday, looking more comfortable playing behind the strikers, and he was instrumental in creating Tokelo Rantie's goal in the second half, with a perfectly weighted pass.
