Bayern's Usami close to Hoffenheim move - report

The 20-year-old striker languished on the bench at Bayern Munich this season, but instead of returning to Japan appears set to join Hoffenheim on another loan spell
Bayern Munich striker Takashi Usami will spend next season at Hoffenheim, according to a report in Germany's Bild.

The 20-year-old spent the last season at Bayern Munich, but failed to win a regular first-team spot, making five appearances in all competitions and scoring just once in a DFB-Pokal clash.

Usami has expressed a desire to stay in Europe rather than return to hometown club Gamba Osaka, who declined to exercise a €1.5 million buyout in the player's loan contract.

This northern winter he was the subject of interest from Nurnberg, and had told reporters that the move was likely. But the change in destination could be a result of that club's reported agreement with Japan international Hiroshi Kiyotake.

Usami is not expected to feature in the upcoming Uefa Champions League final between Bayern and Chelsea.
