The Blue Eagles could have won the league with a win in Thursday's Amman Derby against Al Wihdat, but will host a one-legged play-off after the match ended with a scoreless draw

After a dramatic series of results on Thursday, the Jordan Premier League Championship will be contested in a one-game play-off on Sunday when Al Faisaly host Al Ramtha at Amman International Stadium.

Al Faisaly , who won the 2009-2010 title, could have won their 32nd championship by defeating bitter rivals Al Wihdat on Thursday in the Amman Derby. But the game ended in a scoreless draw, allowing Al Ramtha to pull level with 51 points after their 1-0 victory over Al Jazeera.

A victory in Sunday's match would give Al Ramtha their first league crown since 1982, and first major trophy since the 2001 Jordan FA Shield.

In a statement on Friday detailing the rules for the match, the Jordanian FA announced that a Saudi Arabian team of referees would officiate the game after complaints from Al Faisali chairman Sheikh Sultan El Adooan, who had declared that the Amman Derby's officiating was "the worst he had seen in his life".

The play-off match on Sunday will kick off at 16.00CET (18:00 local time).
