Del Nero to replace Teixeira on Fifa Executive Committee

Marco Polo del Nero will reportedly be confirmed as Ricardo Teixeira's replacement on the Fifa Executive Committee in the coming days.

According to reports in Brazil, the Sao Paulo Football Federation president has been put forward for the role by Conmebol and his appointment is now considered a formality.

Del Nero, a member of the Conmebol Executive Committee, was considered Teixeira's right-hand man before the latter decided to give up his role with Fifa after resign as president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and the head of the 2014 World Cup organising committee for "personal reasons".

The criminal law specialist also has a strong relationship with the man who succeeded Teixeira as CBF chief, Jose Maria Marin.
