MSL Big Bet Preview: Selangor vs LionsXII; Perak to stroll past Sarawak

MSL Big Bet Preview: Selangor vs LionsXII; Perak to stroll past Sarawak

Football Association of Malaysia

The highly anticipated rivalry between Selangor and Singapore will be renewed while Perak are expected to steamroll past Sarawak on Wednesday

Selangor FA
2-0
LionsXII

After an 18 year hiatus, the much awaited derby clash is back! Both sides will renew their rivalry this Wednesday. Selangor and LionsXII have not really hit top gear yet this season, although the home side does appear to have the edge for this one. They have bolstered their squad with former Aston Villa hitman Bosko Balaban, who could be pivotal against V.Sundramoorthy's side. Derby clashes are often deemed as unpredictable, although it's not very hard to see why Selangor have an upper hand in this one.

Negeri Sembilan FA
2-1
T-Team FC

Negeri Sembilan had a explosive start to the season but they seem to have lost their luster in the last two games against Felda United and Sarawak. The form of Jean-Emmanuel Effa Owona has appeared to decline and Azraai Khor will need to revitalize his side ahead of a tough clash against T-Team. The visitors themselves have looked out of sorts in recent matches and just like Negeri Sembilan, T-Team will be desperate to regain their confidence. However, the Deers might edge this one out with home advantage.

Perak FA
3-0
  Sarawak FA

Perak have been the surprise packages of this season, with four victories from their first five matches. Sitting comfortably on third, Norizan Bakar will be keen to continue their roll by taking the scalp of Sarawak in Ipoh. While the Borneo side have not looked convincing themselves, the signing of Vedran Muratovic will be a sigh of relief for their fans. However, going up against the rampant Seladangs on home turf could prove to be fatal, with Michal Kubala on scintillating form in midfield.

Kuala Lumpur FA
1-3
Kedah FA

In a clash between two struggling teams, Kedah do appear to have the slight advantage in this one. While it is true that the Canaries have been very poor this season, it was always going to be a matter of time, with the likes of Baddrol Bakhtiar and Khyril Muhymeen on board. Kuala Lumpur, under the tutelage of Razip Ismail, have been unimpressive this season and a crippling financial situation isn't aiding the cause as well. KL have home advantage for this one, but expect Kedah to emerge with all three points.

Sabah FA
1-2
Kelantan FA

Sabah is a side filled with plenty of potential, although they have been mediocre this season. Justin Ganai's men have only won once this season, but the form of Michael Baird will be encouraging as they prepare for a tough match against Kelantan. The away side have looked fantastic this year, sitting majestically at the top of the table. Peter Butler's men have also brought in Obina Nwanerari to solidify their squad and based on paper and form, a victory for the Red Warriors seems nothing less than imminent.

 Terengganu FA
2-0
  PKNS FC

Terengganu have been revived following a disappointing defeat to Perak on opening day. They have won all their matches since then, with second spot on the table being theirs. The form of Francis Doe Forkey has been revelatory and the Liberian forward could be too hot for PKNS to handle. Nonetheless, the away side themselves have a very capable forward to count on in the form of Michael Nicoise. The former Al-Masry striker bagged a brace in their 2-2 draw with Sabah last week and will be pivotal on Wednesday. Having said that, it's not difficult to see why Terengganu will emerge victorious from this match, especially with home advantage on their side

Johor FC
2-1
Felda United FC

Both club sides have yet to find their form in the league but they do have what it takes to set the league alight. Johor FC will head into this clash as favourites, having looked impressive all season long. Felda United, who have roped in youngsters, are a solid side although they have yet to find the right blend in their first-team. Inconsistency is the biggest issue for E. Elevarasan's men and unless they change that, Johor FC will edge this one out with a victory.
