MSL Preview: Terengganu vs Kelantan

Turtles are out for revenge against The Red Warriors in this East Coast Derby.

Terengganu will host a big game against the FA Cup Champions, Kelantan on Tuesday. This will be the third time these two teams meet this season and Terengganu will have the advantage as the match will be held in Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium; the fortress of the Turtles.

Their current standing in the league will not give much effect towards the Turtles' motivation coming into the game as this is more of a grudge match for them to take against Kelantan after being tamed in Kota Bharu earlier this season. However, this time around, the match will be held in Kuala Terengganu, in front of thousands of the Terengganu fans.

Close to being humiliated by PKNS FC last weekend, newly hired coach Peter Butler will definitely not hold anything back and would bet on his famous trio, Ashaari Shamsudin, Abd Manaf Mamat and Francis F. Doe to hassle Kelantan’s defence. The Turtles' forward line also includes the likes of Joseph Kalang Tie and Erison Da Silva who are all capable on beating Kelantan’s defence marshalled by Khairul Fahmi Che Mat.

However, Peter Butler will probably be doing something to the defence as his team already allowed eight goals in their last five fixtures. Muslim Ahmad and Mazlizam Mohd will be entrusted to help their goalkeeper, Sharbinee Alawee.

For the Red Warriors, a win with 2 goals margin will ensure their spot at top of the league. However, three-points will only be enough for them just to hold off the current leaders, Lions XII with equal points seperated only by goal difference. Looking at Kelantan's current form, it is safe to say that they are more likely to to come out of the game as a winner. The Red Warriors are now looking for their 21st match unbeaten streak in all competition.

Yet, The Red Warriors' boss, Bojan Hodak, will have some problems to select his best squad as he will be consulting his team to play against their former boss, Peter Butler. Kelantan’s top scorer, Mohd Ghaddar and Norsyahrul Idlan Talaha will surely be in the front line in an attacking-side to confound the Turtles' defence. Badhri Radzi, Shakir Shaari, and Indra Putra Mahyuddin will assist in the midfield area to put Terengganu defence under pressure.

Peter Butler will surely have something to prove to his former bosses in Kelantan and will urge his team to go all out for a win in this derby.
