Solid when called upon and could do little to stop Rose's header flying past him into the net. Struggled with the wind at times as he struggled to find Stoke shirts with his distribution.
Didn't seem to be on the same wavelength as Shawcross as he got in his way and made some haphazard clearances that allowed Tottenham to continue attacking.
Strong in the tackle but positional awareness isn't his strongest attribute, especially at left-back. Lacked composure at times.
Wasn't able to get forward as much as he would have liked but looked to stay as close to Eriksen as possible. Slipped at the wrong moment to allow Rose the space to break the deadlock.
Made some good interceptions but spoiled a decent display by making two petulant challenges and getting himself needlessly sent off early in the second period.
Showed some neat touches and went close in the first half when he curled wide from the edge of the area at 0-0. Sacrificed after Shawcross' red card.
Drove Stoke forward from midfield and was able to get a couple of shots away on goal. Looked to give Paulinho little time on the ball before missing a great chance midway through the second period.
Saw the game pass him by for long periods and was culpable for the Rose goal as he allowed Adebayor to ghost past him far too easily in the build-up.
Gave Naughton some problems on the Stoke left but never really played any killer passes of note. Did test Lloris after being switched to the right in the second half before missing a gilt-edged opportunity to level late on.
Pace caused problems on the Stoke right but poor touches let him down. Moved centrally after Crouch was withdrawn but missed a great headed chance soon after.
Struggled to get involved as Kaboul and Dawson made sure he saw little of the ball. Eventually replaced by Assaidi in the second half.
Dealt well with balls into his box as he looked to neutralise the aerial threat of Crouch. Saved well with his feet from Arnautovic in the second half.
Outmuscled early on by Odemwingie but grew into the match. Played some neat passes forward before opening the scoring with a bullet header. Fouled for Shawcross' second yellow and was substituted as he threatened to boil over himself.
Carried the ball well out of defence and had the pace to deal with the runs of Odemwingie. Made a fantastic block on an Assaidi effort in the second period.
A calming presence at the back as he made a number of strong challenges and key headers. Not the quickest but made up for it with other aspects of his performance.
Needed to be stronger at times as Arnautovic got the better of him. Played his part in the goal but offered little else going forward.
Gave Muniesa some headaches with his quick feet but poor touches meant he never really created anything of note. Eventually replaced by Townsend in the second period.
Pulled the strings for the visitors as he perenially looked for Adebayor and Kane ahead of him. Curled a free-kick narrowly over the top late on.
Almost scored inside a minute and looked to make plenty of late runs into the box. Also tracked back well before being replaced for the final 20 minutes.
Kept Tottenham ticking over in the middle of the park in a display full of control. Looked to stay as close as possible to Ireland and kept the ball effectively.
A quiet display but made a telling contribution as he did well to get to the byline and cross for Rose to head home. Otherwise on the periphery.
Buzzed around alongside Adebayor and made a nuisance of himself. Tested Begovic on a couple of occasions but never really looked like scoring.
Brought on after Rose threatened to get himself sent off and though he was beaten by Assaidi on occasion, did enough.
Fired wide in what was an otherwise quiet showing off the bench by the Iceland international.
Made little impact after replacing Lennon in the second half.
