The LionsXII resume their MSL campaign, looking to extend their lead at the top of the table, against an in-form Kedah team unbeaten in four matchesThe LionsXll will resume their Malaysian Super League campaign tomorrow, hosting Kedah FA at the Jalan Besar stadium.
The two sides first met four months ago in the second fixture of the league and the match ended in a 0-0 draw with both sides putting in uninspiring performances.
Since then the Lions have gone on a 10 match unbeaten streak and have also soared to the top of the table, presently leading the league with 39 points. It has been a different case though for the Canaries as they have slumped to the bottom half of the table with only 17 points after fifteen matches.
Despite being humbled by champions Kelantan FA 3-0 one week ago, the Lions responded positively by beating Felda United 2-0 at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka on Tuesday.
But it was an under-par performance from the leaders, with them not playing their usual free-flow attacking game, and with the players seemingly struggling.
The inclusion of striker Khairul Amri is definitely good news for both the fans and the team but it seemed against Felda that his return disrupted the flow of the team and coach V. Sundramoothy may have to sacrifice him and leave him on the bench tomorrow.
Without a doubt, Amri is definitely a talented player but the former Young Lions captain needs time to regain his form and match fitness having been out for eleven months due to injury problems.
Good news from Sundram is that his squad is currently on a clean bill of health, with only
Hariss Harun missing out with a knock. Defender Safuwan Baharudin who sustained an injury in the loss against Kelantan has recovered and is likely to play a part.
The Lions seem on course for another three points, which will further extend their lead at the top of the table, but the team needs to be wary of the backlash of Kedah as they are currently on a four match unbeaten run, holding Kelantan twice to a draw in the process when they played in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Croatian hot shot Vedran Gerc will be the danger man upfront for the visitors and the Lions defence needs to pay extra attention to him or risk being punished.
