The only MSL match of the week took place earlier at Shah Alam, between second-placed Selangor and fifth-placed Terengganu. The homeside needed a win in order to leap frog league leaders Pahang, and ensure league dominance.

The Red Giants started with their usual suspects save for centreback Stilianos Pantelidis, whereas their fans were made to wait for the Selangor debut of teenage sensation Nazmi Faiz, who was signed during the April transfer break.

The visitors meanwhile started with Norfarhan Muhammad and Dabo Moustapha up front, whereas second goalkeeper Shamirza Yusoff stood in for Sharbinee Alawi, who was injured.

It took until the 21st minute for the first chance to appear, following a silly challenge by Selangor skipper Bunyamin Moustapha on Dabo. The ensuing freekick eluded Selangor's backline but not Terengganu centreback Vincent Bikanna, who dove to get a touch with his head. Goalkeeper Farizal Marlias responded equally well to tip the ball over.

By the half hour mark, although the home side had the majority of possession, it was the visitors who were more dangerous with the remainder of the possession, preferring to stay back and wait for the right time to launch into a counterattack.

Towards the end of the first half, Indonesian winger Andik Vermansyah stepped up his game with his trademark wing runs for Selangor's own counterattacks, which were too hot to be handled by the Turtles' defence. He was fouled repeatedly, resulting in two bookings to the visitors.

Terengganu almost went in front when play resumed in the second half, when Moustapha was released through a lob in the Selangor penalty box. But his attempt to chip the ball over Farizal went over the bar instead.

Eight minutes later, the visitors came close again, when Ismail Faruqi squared the ball into the box unmarked, but Farizal was again able to parry the cross out.

Finally the Red Giants fans got what they came for when in the 61st minute, Nazmi was brought in for Thamil Arasu, who had been ineffectual throughout the match.

Ten minutes later, Rangel was set up by a lay off from the youngster, but his shot failed to find its target.

The match finished 0-0, and Selangor are still in second after failing to capture all three points at home
