After being eliminated from the AFC Cup in the group stages, the Red Giants of Selangor will look to end their unsuccessful campaign with a win against Maldivian club Maziya. Selangor have been disappointing this season with only one win out of five in the group stages, which saw them unable to keep up with the teams at the top of the group.

In the Super League Selangor have been in fine form over recent weeks, and they are now second in the league after an eight match unbeaten run, just behind Pahang. However in the AFC Cup the defeat against Arema Indonesia has dumped them from the competition. They cannot take this final group game for granted, as Maziya FC held Selangor to a draw in their last meeting, and managed a victory over fellow Malaysian side Kelantan in last years competition.
For Maziya, this year's AFC Cup has also been a letdown for them, as they have only managed one point during their campaign so far. They were not able to perform well on the international stage and a win against Selangor would be a consolation for them.

After the draw in the Maldives, it will be no surprise to see Maziya launch an all-out attack on Selangor as they definitely want to at least get a win in the competition.  As the home team are expected to rest some of their key players this could be a possibility.

For Selangor, K. Gurusamy is out with ACL injury and has been sidelined for the rest of the season while Andik Vermansyah is still doubtful after the last game against LionsXII. Thamil Arasu and Paulo Rangel are expected to lead the line.

Points do not matter in this clash, but what is important is pride, with both teams looking to register a win for their fans who have supported them throughout their campaigns.
