T-Team jumps to second after Sarawak fail to impress while Robert Alberts singles out Muratovic as a disappointment.
The thrilling encounter between T-Team and Sarawak didn’t materialized after both teams failed to play to their best on a very wet and slippery pitch.
T-Team however showed much more urgency in the first-half as they pressured Sarawak with numerous attempts on goal. Sarawak, who opted to partner Vedran Muratovic with K. Ravindran for the first time seemed a little silent and were left making long shots towards the goal.
In the 22nd minute, Sarawak allowed Faiz Subri and Nor Fazly Alias to slip through their defence line, but Faiz’s shot on goal was saved easily by goalkeeper Sani Anuar. Minutes later, Faiz yet again menaced the Sarawakian defense as he outpaced his marker before unleashing a thunderous shot on goal which went high.
From then on, both teams toned down the game pace as they tried to find more footing on the wet and slippery pitch. Sarawak sneaked a last-minute attempt on goal in the dying minutes of the half but Muratovic failed to connect with Azizan Baba’s beautiful cross in the penalty box. The first-half ended with both teams yet to find the back of the net.
The second period of play began with both teams showing more urgency for the win. Robert Alberts replaced Ravindran for Zamri Morshidi in the 52nd minute to add more flair upfront.
However, it was T-Team who hit the back of the net in the 66th minute as Faiz’s powerful shot on goal was out of Sani Anuar’s reach.
Sarawak tried hard to crack T-Team’s defence from then on, but their attacks led to nothing with Muratovic slipping when it mattered most.
In the final minutes, Zamri Morshidi almost grabbed the equalized Sarawak was looking for when Sharol Saperi’s through pass to him was used to trick his marker, but his strike was blocked by goalkeeper Syamsuri. Sarawak continued to push until the final whistle, but the score remained in T-Team’s favour.
In the post-match interview, Robert Alberts expressed his disappointment with the result and the game while singling out Muratovic as one of the main underperformers in his team.
