  • Thanks for joining me for what was a thoroughly entertaining game between two sides not afraid to attack. Try and find a clip of Aluko's volley if you can – it was worthy of winning any game. That's all from me for today, thank you very much for joining me!
  • Bruce will be delighted to have left the North East with all three points, particularly as his last visit to Newcastle ended in a 5-1 defeat for his Sunderland side back in 2008.
  • FULL-TIME: NEWCASTLE 2-3 HULL Aluko sealed a superb win for Hull with a sublime volley in the 76th minute of the game to lift the visitors above Pardew's side in the table and into 10th. The home side had looked in control at the interval thanks to two well-taken goals from Remy either side of a Brady effort, but in the second half Hull showed their reserve by equalising through Elmohamady and then taking the lead through Aluko.

  • 90' + 5'
And there is the final whistle! A happy return to St James' Park for Bruce and his side.
  • 90' + 4'
The final few minutes have been punctuated by silly fouls from Newcastle and Hull look set to hold out for all three points here.
  • 90' + 3'
The home side are attacking in waves as stoppage time wears on, but again they serve Hull a free kick on a silver platter as Gouffran backs into Davies. That is really silly play from the substitute.
  • 90' + 2'
Thousands inside the stadium thought that effort from Remy was in.
  • 90' + 1'
REMY NEARLY COMPLETES HIS HAT-TRICK! The Newcastle frontman controls a cross from the right superbly six yards from goal, and shoots with his second before the ball has dropped, but the ball flies inches wide of the left-hand post and smashes into the advertising hoardings.
  • 90'
    Yellow CardTom Huddlestone
  • 90'
FIVE MINUTES OF STOPPAGE TIME! I'm not sure where that has all come from...
  • 89'
Pardew is urging his men forward from the Newcastle technical area but Hull are defending superbly at the moment. The visitors are not allowing Newcastle's creative players any time on the ball.
  • 87'
Time is running out for the Magpies...
  • 86'
    SubstitutionMathieu Debuchy Cheikh Tiote
Pardew also decides to make his final change. Debuchy makes way for Cheikh Tiote. The French international will not have enjoyed today's match, up against Brady and Boyd. Brady scored one and got an assist, and Boyd then set up Aluko's stunning goal that gave Hull the lead.
  • 85'
Anita ploughs through Huddlestone which gifts Hull a free kick in the centre circle and gives them a chance to slow the pace of the game down at a crucial time for them.
  • 84'
    SubstitutionDanny Graham Y. Sagbo
Graham's 22-game goal drought will not end today. The former Sunderland man, never likely to get a warm reception in these parts, is hauled off by Bruce in favour of Yannick Sagbo.
  • 83'
Newcastle are keeping the ball well but not doing much with it in an attacking sense. Their latest spell of possession breaks down on the edge of the Hull box as Ben Arfa is penalised for pushing Davies while trying to shield the ball.
  • 81'
Will Graham ever score again? Seriously. The striker was just found inside the box with a brilliant chipped pass from his strike partner Aluko, but his first touch was awful and allowed Krul to easily gather the ball.
  • 79'
Santon wastes a fine opportunity to test McGregor with a free kick from 35 yards! The former Inter man's effort doesn't even beat the Hull wall, and the ball bounces away from danger.
  • 78'
Now we get to see what Newcastle are made of. They've won their last two league games, but with 12 minutes to go they are really up against it if they want to continue that winning streak.
  • 76'

    GoalS. Aluko
ALUKO PUTS THE VISITORS IN FRONT WITH A MARVELLOUS VOLLEY! The Hull striker shows brilliant technique to guide a volley into the back of the net after being found by a pinpoint cross from Boyd on the left. That was some strike from Aluko, it crashed off the right-hand post and into the net, and Krul barely moved!
  • 75'
Both managers decide it's time for another change. Hull's first goalscorer Brady – who has had another very good game for the newly-promoted side – is withdrawn for David Meyler, while Sylvain Marveaux replaces Cisse for the hosts.
  • 74'
    SubstitutionRobbie Brady David Meyler
  • 73'
    SubstitutionPapiss Cissé Sylvain Marveaux
  • 73'
The Frenchman's delivery isn't up to scratch though, and Hull are able to clear the ball upfield.
  • 72'
Corner to Newcastle. Ben Arfa, in his beautiful (and all too rare these days) all-black boots, trudges over to take the set piece.
  • 70'
Santon flicks a weak cross into the area that is easily smashed away by Chester. Unsurprisingly the Italian's ball is met with groans from the crowd, and some of his players by the looks of it.
  • 69'
Both sides are looking a bit nervy as we edge towards the final 20 minutes. Either could go on to win this, it has been a very open game.
  • 67'
Huddlestone plays a quick free kick to Elmohamady on the right, but his deep cross into the Newcastle box is punched away firmly by Krul.
  • 66'
Bruce makes his first substitution of the day to try and freshen things up for the away team. George Boyd is the man entrusted with doing this – he trots on at Quinn's expense.
  • 65'
Ben Arfa sends a teasing cross towards Cisse at the back post but the Senegalese forward fails to make contact with the ball.
  • 64'
    SubstitutionStephen Quinn George Boyd
  • 64'
This could be dangerous for Hull. Aluko catches Cisse 30 yards from goal and the home side have a free kick...
  • 62'
    SubstitutionYohan Cabaye Yoan Gouffran
And there is that change – Cabaye is replaced by Gouffran. Despite his recent flirting with Arsenal the departing French international is given a warm round of applause by the Newcastle fans.
  • 61'
Cabaye is not happy about that challenge though, and he is down receiving treatment from the Newcastle physio. Yoan Gouffran is warming up on the sidelines just in case the French schemer cannot continue.
  • 59'
Big challenge from Davies on Cabaye! The Hull centre-back thunders into a tackle with Cabaye and wins the ball cleanly. Had he got that wrong he could have been off!
  • 58'
Quinn shows good awareness to intercept a Ben Arfa pass towards Santon but Hull's counter attack is stopped abruptly by Anita in full flow.
  • 56'
Remy is really showing the Newcastle fans what he is capable this afternoon. After scoring two fine goals in the first half he has been seeking the ball whenever possible since Hull's equaliser as his side go in search of a goal to restore their lead. Moments ago he took up possession on the left and showed an astonishing turn of pace to burst past Quinn and Livermore and find Cisse with a pass.
  • 55'
Cabaye hangs a corner towards Coloccini at the back post, but Hull are defending for their lives and two blue shirts throw themselves in front of the Argentine to clear the ball away.
  • 53'
The temperature is rising inside St James' Park as the home side try and wrestle back the lead. Some decent play from Cabaye creates space for him to curl a pass to Santon on the left, and the left-back's cross is deflected behind for a corner off Elmohamady.
  • 52'
STAT: Hull have won on three of their last four visits to St James Park in all competitions (one defeat).
  • 50'
Graham has a chance to put Hull in front! The ball falls to him near the penalty spot but with his back to goal he struggles to test Krul with a tame left-footed effort.

  • 48'
    GoalAhmed El Mohamady
HULL LEVEL FROM THE SET PIECE!! Elmohamady will relish that equalising goal! The former Sunderland defender flicks a great header past Krul, which bounces off the post and in, after he was left unmarked to connect with Brady's inviting inswinging free kick from the left.
  • 47'
Some good pressing from Graham on Yanga-Mbiwa wins Hull a throw-in deep in Newcastle's half and that then evolves into a free kick after Anita hurtles through the back of Aluko.
  • 46'
The Tigers start the second half with a decent move down the left – inevitably involving the impressive Brady – but Aluko's eventual shot is not a clean one, and it bobbles through to the grateful arms of Krul in the Newcastle goal.
  • Hull will feel a little bit aggrieved to be trailing after an open first 45 minutes, with the difference so far being the two side's strikers' finishing. Remy has had two chances of note for Newcastle and scored them both, while Graham up the other end has seen one close-range header clawed out by Krul. The striker has not looked like ending his 22-game scoreless drought though, and has wasted two or three good opportunities after being put through on goal by his team-mates.
  • HALF-TIME: NEWCASTLE 2-1 HULL Pardew's side trudge off at the interval with a deserved one-goal lead thanks to a wonderfully-taken goal late in the half from Remy. The Frenchman had opened the scoring in the tenth minute with a powerful header, before Brady equalised for the visitors 16 minutes later with a firmly-struck effort from 15 yards.
  • 45' + 2'
And there is the half-time whistle! Newcastle lead at the break at St James' Park.
  • 45'
Debuchy is down after being caught by a challenge from Brady. The right-back looked to be in a fair amount of pain, but he is back on his feet now and gingerly jogging off the pitch to be allowed back on.
  • 44'
    GoalLoïc Remy
REMY BAGS ANOTHER TO RESTORE NEWCASTLE'S LEAD!! Hull think they have averted the danger as Chester dives in front of Cabaye's shot to stop its route to goal, but Remy has other ideas as he curls a fine first-time effort into the bottom right corner. 2-1 to the hosts!
  • 42'
Hull's centre-back pairing of Chester and Curtis Davies are doing very well to limit the impact of Newcastle's intimidating front three, after they had made a confident start to the game.
  • 40'
A divine piece of control from Cisse holds play up well for the home side. He slips the ball to Ben Arfa who shifts it on to Cabaye, and the France international whips an effort at goal that flies only a yard or so over McGregor's crossbar.
  • 39'
    At least he's consistent.
  • 38'
Atkinson is not making any friends here. Newcastle are fuming now, after the ball appears to strike Livermore's hand 25 yards from goal and the referee again motions for play to continue.
  • 36'
Hull are flying! Graham is causing a nuisance of himself, despite his fluffed effort a few moments ago, and on the most recent occasion his distraction techniques resulted in the ball landing at the feet of Livermore inside the box. The energetic midfielder managed to get a shot away, but it was blocked brilliantly by the recovering Debuchy.
  • 34'
Chester blocks a long-range Santon effort and Bruce's side try and break quickly. Huddlestone chooses the right club on this occasion as his lofted through ball lands at the feet of Graham on the edge of the Newcastle box. The former Sunderland man makes a complete mess of the chance though, as he fails to get the ball out of his feet and Coloccini nips in to steal possession.
  • 33'
Atkinson is coming under fire from all areas of the Hull team. After not giving that free kick high on the left side of the pitch he is screamed at by Elmohamady in the right-back position after he feels he is fouled by Remy. On both occasions the man in the middle waves play on.
  • 31'
Hull are not happy with the referee after he fails to award them a free kick for a meaty challenge from Debuchy on Aluko near the corner flag.
  • 30'
Huddlestone nearly finds Graham with a sumptuous driven pass into the Newcastle box but Coloccini has hit wits about him to follow the flight of the ball and head it back to his goalkeeper.
  • 28'
A wayward cross from Santon bounces all the way through for a goal-kick as Newcastle look a bit shell-shocked after letting their lead slip.
  • 26'

    GoalRobbie Brady
BRADY DRAWS HULL LEVEL!! The winger drives into the box on the left and hammers a shot through Krul and into the back of the net to make it 1-1 after being found by a well-weighted pass from Aluko. The equaliser came just seconds after Graham came within a whisker of scoring himself!
  • 25'
HOW HAS THAT NOT GONE IN?! AN ASTONISHING SAVE FROM KRUL! The Newcastle goalkeeper pulls off a sublime stop from close-range to keep out Danny Graham's header.
  • 23'
Having seen a replay of Cisse's inadvertent assist for Remy's goal, it kind of sums his season up. The striker is without a goal in five months, since scoring the winner against Fulham in April, and his confidence has looked shot in recent weeks. He made poor connection with Sissoko's brilliant ball, and was fortunate that the shot bounced into the path of Remy.
  • 22'
Heads and volleys stuff from the Magpies! Coloccini starts it all off with a delightful chip out to Santon, who is hugging the left touchline, and he sends a no-look first-time volley on to Remy, who then digs a cross out to the back post that is eventually dealt with by Chester. Exhibition play from the hosts. Their fans are loving it too.
  • 20'
STAT: Ben Arfa has mustered more attempts from open play than any other Premier League player this season (13).
  • 19'
Risky/confident play from Yanga-Mbiwa. The young centre-back dribbles out of defence for Newcastle and does well to jynx past a couple of tackles before losing the ball near the halfway line. Hull nearly make them pay with a swift counter attack, but that is snuffed out by some alert defending from Coloccini.
  • 17'
It's end-to-end stuff at St James! Straight after that dangerous attack from Hull, Debuchy goes marauding in the opposite direction for the hosts. He looks to cut a driven pass back to the waiting Remy on the penalty spot but the ball is intercepted via a timely touch from Chester.
  • 15'
Vernon Anita is forced into defensive action inside his own box following a devilish cross from Robert Brady from Hull's left side. The winger's pass looked destined for Livermore who was arriving at the back post but Anita was on hand to bundle the ball behind for a corner.
  • 14'
Cisse sweeps a pass out to Ben Arfa on the right and the Frenchman looks to create a carbon copy of his winner against Fulham earlier on in the season by cutting inside the left-back and flashing a shot at goal, but on this occasion his effort is blocked.
  • 12'
The home side's lead is a deserved one, they have looked far more dangerous than their opponents in the opening 10 minutes or so.

    GoalLoïc Remy
REMY GIVES NEWCASTLE THE LEAD!! The Frenchman scores his first goal for the club with a well-taken header from six yards after a mishit shot from the out-of-form Cisse. The Senegalese forward was found at the back post by a delightful cross from the right by Moussa Sissoko, and his miscued effort into the ground bounced up kindly for Remy to nod past the despairing dive of McGregor.
  • 9'
Coloccini looks concerned by the pace of Aluko! The Hull striker looks to race on to a hoofed clearance from James Chester and very nearly does so. The Argentine centre-back shields the ball back to his goalkeeper, but not before putting in a robust body-check on Aluko.
  • 8'
Jake Livermore's first real involvement for Hull is to feed a pass into the run of Aluko. The pacy forward looked to flash a shot at goal from distance but his effort was thwarted by the body of Danny Graham – his strike partner.
  • 6'
Hull have struggled to settle and Newcastle are continuing to threaten in the early stages, particularly down the left-hand side. Santon is pushing forward to good effect, while Remy is drifting out to that side to put pressure on the Hull right-back Rosenior.
  • 5'
The former Spurs midfielder has been impressive for Bruce's men since making a summer switch from White Hart Lane. His flamboyant afro remains, while his goal drought goes on.
  • 4'
Sone Aluko loses the ball to Davide Santon on the halfway line and the Magpies try and surge through the centre, only to find their way blocked off by the considerable frame of Tom Huddlestone.
  • 3'
The home side have started very brightly here. A neat move involving Papiss Cisse and Yohan Cabaye ends with an off target shot from Remy, but the brightness of their play in the opening few minutes has got their fans on their feet already.
  • 2'
Vernon Anita loops an early pass over the Hull back line for Loic Remy to run on to but Allan McGregor is out quickly to seize the ball for the visitors.
  • 1'
Martin Atkinson gets things rolling at St James', and the home side quickly flick the ball back to their captain Fabricio Collocini at centre-back.
  • The teams are making their way out and we are just minutes away from kick-off!
  • You've got to feel for old Brucey a bit. The last time he was at St James' Park he was on the wrong end of a 5-1 defeat to Newcastle while in charge of Sunderland back in 2008. The home fans are happy to see him, and a few even greeted him with cheers as he stepped out onto the pitch during the warm-ups. How they would love a repeat of that scoreline.
  • HULL TEAM NEWS: Bruce has been forced into making a couple of changes because of the absence of Koren and Figueroa. Stephen Quinn replaces the former in midfield, while Liam Rosenior fills in at right-back in place of Figueroa.
  • NEWCASTLE TEAM NEWS: The Magpies are unchanged from the side that beat Aston Villa last week, as Hatem Ben Arfa and Loic Remy play either side of the in-need-of-a-goal Papiss Cisse.
  • Subs: Harper, Bruce, Faye, Boyd, Meyler, Proschwitz, Sagbo
  • Hull (4-4-2): McGregor; Rosenior, Davies, Chester, Elmohamady; Brady, Huddlestone, Livermore, Quinn; Aluko, Graham
  • Subs: Elliot, Dummett, Williamson, Tiote, Marveaux, Sa Ameobi, Gouffran
  • Newcastle United (4-3-3): Krul; Debuchy, Yanga-Mbiwa, Coloccini, Santon; Anita, Cabaye, Sissoko; Ben Arfa, Cisse, Remy
  • Without further ado, I give you both side's starting XIs...
  • In the home dugout Pardew is in a fortunate position, with a strong squad available to him. The only notable absentee is Steven Taylor – the centre-back is ruled out after suffering a training ground injury during the week.
  • Steve Bruce's side are without their captain Robert Koren, who is out for eight weeks with a fractured foot, while the club's summer signing from Wigan, Maynor Figueroa, is in Honduras on compassionate leave.
  • Feel free to get involved with our live commentary at any point in proceedings by hurling your views on the game over to me on the Twitter machine at @charliefscott, or by posting in the comments box to the right of this play-by-play.
  • My name is Charlie Scott and I'll be providing colourful and potentially insightful updates from St James' Park as the home side go in search of their third straight win in the league. Hull, meanwhile, have won just one of their last 11 games in the top division, though they did win on their last league visit to Newcastle five years ago. Marlon King was their hero that day, as he scored twice for the away side in a 2-1 victory that also included Xisco's only league goal for the Magpies.
  • Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this afternoon's live coverage of Hull City Tigers' Premier League trip to a balmy North East, where they face Alan Pardew's Newcastle United.
