Defending MSL champions, Kelantan is going into the game with a 19 match unbeaten streak in all competitions and will be going all out for a win over seemingly hapless Sabah
It is a tale of two teams with different fortunes. Defending MSL champions, Kelantan is going into the game with a 19 match unbeaten streak in all competitions and will look to keep up the pressure on leaders, LionsXII with a win over seemingly hapless Sabah.
It has been a whirlwind season for the Borneo team who has axed coach Justin Ganai due to the 9-0 drubbing suffered against LionsXII. Their first game under interim coach Andrew Majanggim ended in a 4-0 defeat against PKNS.
The Red Warriors will be banking on their striking duo; Mohammed Ghaddar and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha to wreak havoc on the Rhinos defence come tomorrow night. The Lebanese Ghaddar in particular has been in red hot form and is the team’s current top goal scorer with 7 goals.
Besides their potent striking duo, the Rhinos have another Red Warrior to worry about and that is Malaysia’s No. 1 goalkeeper, Khairul Fahmi. He has persistently bailed Kelantan out of tough matches with last ditch saves this season and thus far has conceded the least amount of goals. Coach Bojan Hodak will surely go into this game brimming with confidence.
However, all is not doom and gloom for the Rhinos as they have national midfielder, Shahrudin Yakup to count on. He has been Sabah’s glimmer of hope this season with his energetic displays from midfield and is the team’s main goal getter with 5 goals. Andrew Majanggim will surely hope that Shahrudin will be able to find the chink in Kelantan’s armor tomorrow night.
Some may call this fixture a David and Goliath battle, but with so many at stake it will surely be an entertaining game for local football fans to enjoy.
