MSL Preview: Kelantan vs Perak

Football Association of Singapore

The Red Warriors will be out to retain their Super League title with a win over Perak this weekend.

Kelantan are just three points away from completing the double this season as they welcome the visit of Perak to their fotress, Sultan Muhammad ke-IV Stadium. Winning this game will effectively award them their second silverware this season for the 2012 FA Cup winners. An amazing 3-1 win over Negeri Sembilan after being left a goal behind will give them motivation to seal their status as 2012 Malaysia Super League champions. However, Perak will not be an easy prey for the Red Warriors.

Former Kelantan striker, Akmal Rizal Rakhli urged his teammates to give their best performance and hold Kelantan. He stated that it is not an easy job playing in Kota Bharu, but it’s not impossible to hold the Red Warriors and dent their hopes of lifting the Super League trophy.

Kelantan has been consistent this season after losing only once againt Selangor earlier this season and are also looking to entend their wonderful 23 games unbeaten streak.  Player like Badhri Radzi, Norsyahrul Idlan Talaha and Mohd Ghaddar will be enthrusted by coach Bojan Hodak once again to hastle Perak’s defence. Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, the national goalkeeper will also be another obstacle to the Seladang’s forward line.

As for the visiting Perak, Akmal Rizal will likely start the match. Playing in front of thousands of Kelantan’s supporters shouldn’t be a problem for this former Kelantan striker. Playing alogside him, would be Michal Kubala who has significantly helped Perak this season. Currently in the third place, the Seladang will surely do anything necessesary to get at least one point to consolidate their place.

Perak suffered a shock defeat against Selangor PKNS recently and they will surely give everything this weekend. Looking at past records, Kelantan have more advantage as the Red Warriors won three games out of five during their past meetings with Perak.

Three points in Sultan Muhammad ke-IV Stadium this Saturday will give Kelantan their second trophy of the season, and the second league title in thier history. However, Perak will be their last obstacle to do so. This match will surely be an enjoyable to watch as both teams have their own separate missions to accomplish.
