A Mohammed Hamidan double helps Kedah coast to victory against a Perak side let down by poor finishingA comfortable 3-0 win for Kedah over neighbours Perak in the Malaysian Super League, saw Mohammed Hamidan being named man of the match.
Kedah’s head coach, Wan Jamak Wan Hassan didn’t make any change to the team that beat T-Team in their last game. Playing with Abdelfatah Aftha Safi and Amar Rohidan in midfield, Kedah dominated the game right from the start.
Perak were affected by the absence of Norizan Bakar. Assistant coach, Chow Yee Fat made several changes to the squad from their last fixture, with Khairul Amri replacing Nasril Nordin in goal and Lazar Popovic playing alongside Akmal Rizal up front.
Perak started the game as favourites and managed to create several chances but poor finishing prevented the visitors from breaking the deadlock. Despite Perak dominating the first ten minutes, Kedah's first attack almost got them a goal but the Kedah striker was denied by Shahrol Kalam on the goal line.
In the 34th minute, Kedah made a substitution, introducing Amar Rohidan to the game and he had an instant impact as the Canaries started to dominate the game.
Kedah’s relentless attack forced the visiting team to defend for the rest of the half. Shahrol Kalam once again made an important block from a Khyril Muhymeen shot to maintain the score line at 0-0.
In the dying minutes of the first-half, Sabree Abu’s shot surprised Khairul Amri who saved the shot but conceded a corner.
Mohammed Hamidan soon gave Kedah the lead after taking a classy first-time shot towards the goal.
The second-half started in similar fashion with the home side launching several attacks at Perak. Khyril Muhymeen managed to beat the Seladangs defenders and attempted a great curling shot only to be denied by the crossbar. Perak doubled their efforts to find the equaliser.
On 55 minutes, Akmal Rizal almost put his name on the score sheet after a mistake by M. Bashahrul Abu Bakar.
Kedah had to wait until the 77th minute, when Perak’s defender Syazwan Roslan put the ball into his own net, to extend their lead. Keeper Khairul Amri failed to control Syazwan's back pass and gifted the second goal to Kedah.
Kedah fans were then once again presented a wonderful goal when Hamidan's long range effort beat the Seladangs goalkeeper.
Lazar Popovic had one last chance for Perak but he failed to find the net, disappointing both his team-mates and the fans.
