Kedah's winless run continued as they succumb to a 3-1 defeat to Johor FC in Alor SetarJohor FC seized a valuable victory at the Darul Aman Stadium, beating Kedah 3-1. The away side were thoroughly dominant throughout the match as they claimed a crucial away win.
K. Devan's men controlled proceedings from kick-off with their forward players pressuring the Kedah defenders constantly. However, Khyril Muhymeen came close to giving the home side an unlikely lead in the 13th minute, but his shot was ruled out for offside.
Riduwan Ma'on's effort soon after was close to going past Kedah's Helmi Eliza, but unfortunately it went wide of the post. The Canaries were finding it difficult to create any solid chances at this point of time as Johor FC continued to push the home side into switching to defensive mode.
They got their deserved goal towards the end of the first-half after Latif Suhaimi was adjudged to have fouled Shahrilzal Saad in the penalty box. Azi Shahril stepped up to take the spot-kick, and slotted home in style to give his side the lead.
Both teams were eager to take control of possession after the break, but once again it was Johor that regulated play. They extended their lead in the 64th minute through a well-taken shot by Riduwan, before Khairul Nizam trippled their lead in the 75th minute with an easy goal after a defensive mishap by the home side.
Although the defeat leaves Kedah languishing at the bottom-half of the table, there was one bright note for the Canaries as Khyrl Muhymeed finally scored Kedah's first strike of the seasonm, ending their 440 minute hiatus without a goal.
