Everton boss David Moyes has almost a full squad to choose from for the visit of Sunderland. Only Darron Gibson (groin) is unavailable as he continues to recover from the injury sustained in September. Jonny Heitinga should remain at centre-back in place of Sylvain Distin who was dropped to the bench last week against Fulham, while Seamus Coleman is expected to continue at right-back.

Kevin Mirallas played last week against the Cottagers despite picking up a knock against Liverpool, and is expected to be fit to play against the Black Cats in his role wide of the left while Steven Pienaar will play on the right.

Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill has no new injury worries with long-term absentees Wes Brown (calf) and Titus Bramble (hip) the only players still unavailable. However he will be without midfielder David Meyler who left on Thursday to join Hull on-loan.

Danny Rose, was left on the bench in the defeat to Aston Villa but he should be recalled in place of Jack Colback who will drop to the bench as his usual spot in midfield is filled by Craig Gardner who reverted back to the middle following Phil Bardsley’s return to fitness. James McClean could also return in place of the out-of-form Sebastian Larsson meaning Adam Johnson may switch from the left flank to the right.

  DID YOU KNOW?
  • Everton have not lost to Sunderland since David Moyes has been manager of the club, a run that has stretched 17 games and has included 12 wins.

  • After his double last week against Fulham Marouane Fellaini (pictured right) is the Toffees' top scorer this season with five goals.

  • Moyes’ side are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League games, however they have only won two of those matches, drawing 2-2 four times in that period.

  • The Toffees have not kept a clean sheet in the top flight since  September.

  • Sunderland have not won at Goodison Park since November 1996 when they recorded a 3-1 victory under the management of Peter Reid.

  • The visitors have only won once in their last 17 Premier League games.

  • No Black Cats player has found the net this season apart from Steven Fletcher who has five goals. Their only other goal came from a Demba Ba own goal in their Wear-Tyne derby.

  • It is little wonder Martin O’Neill’s side have struggled for goals as they have hit the target just 13 times this season, the lowest total from any league in Europe.
