  • Paul Lambert will be kicking himself for playing the game too safe when the hosts got a goal back. N'Zogbia was taken off following his dazzling display in order to create more of a structure for the visitors. However this gave West Brom freedom to charge forward and Villa were not able to counter through the wings and ulitmately conceded when the pressure was piled on.
  • West Brom did a fantastic job to recover from their dismal display in the first-half. Steve Clarke gathered his squad together and they came out fighting for round two. It was a game of two halves with Benteke, Agbonlahor and N'Zogbia linking up together in the first half followed by Lukaku, Odemwingie and Brunt feeding off each other in the second.
