Wigan - West Brom Preview: Latics looking for third win on the bounce

The Baggies have enjoyed an impressive start to the season but are yet to secure victory away from home whilst Roberto Martinez's side are on a fine run of form

Wigan are still without long-term absentees Antolin Alcaraz and Albert Crusat, while the thigh injury James McArthur picked up in last week's 1-0 win at White Hart Lane makes him 50-50 to start.

Ben Watson - who scored the winner against Tottenham - is likely to stand in for McCarthur in midfield but Ryo Miyaichi still cannot feature due to a groin injury.

Elsewhere, Roberto Martinez looks set to continue with a consistent team selection in filling the rest of his side.

High-flying West Brom, meanwhile, have a wealth of options to choose from, with Romelu Lukaku and Shane Long battling it out to start as the lone striker and captain Chris Brunt pushing for a recall in midfield.

However, if manager Steve Clarke does not wish to bring Brunt back into the fold, Graham Dorrans will likely make the cut, but James Morrison and Steven Reid are still injured.

Forward Peter Odemwingie looks a sure bet to start after his match-winning performance against Southampton on Monday, where he scored twice.

  DID YOU KNOW?
  • Wigan can claim their third win a row with victory on Saturday after consecutive wins against West Ham and Tottenham.
  • The Latics have only won once at the DW Stadium this season - though that came in their last home fixture, against West Ham.
  • West Brom's home record (played six, won five and lost just one) is the best in the Premier League this season. But the West Midlands side could not have fared more differently on their travels, having not won in four attempts so far this campaign.
  • Baggies striker Peter Odemwingie was eligible to play for both Russia and Uzbekistan, although the striker elected to turn out for Nigeria instead. His middle name 'Osaze' means 'God chooses for you.'
  • When the two sides met last season, a 1-1 draw was almost overshadowed by a large spat between players, which was set off by a Youssouf Mulumbu (pictured right) push on McArthur.
  • The last five fixtures between these two sides paint the picture of an even affair, as Wigan and West Brom have both won two and drawn one.
