Goal.com Kenya's Top Five players of 2012
1) Victor Wanyama
Victor was Kenya’s most successful export in 2012. Wanyama began the year as a promising talent seeking to find his feet in Europe, and ended the 12 months as a Scottish champion. Amongst other individual awards claimed by the player during this period, a Player of the Month accolade in Scotland, third best Sportsman in Kenya and nominee for the most promising talent on the African continent all show his exploits.
In between, the 21 year-old created time to force his way into both club and country’s first team plans after a consistent spell of impressive performances that included netting a number of goals, amongst them a rocket header that ensured former European champions Barcelona registered their only loss in the group stage of this season’s Uefa Champions League. Wanyama has also attracted the interest of several high profile clubs in England and Italy, including Juventus, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton.
