Ephraim Guikan still has a lot to prove, says Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr.
The Ivorian striker has been on the lips of many K’Ogalo fans in the recent past, mostly for what they termed as wastefulness in front of goal.
But the villain shifted position to a club hero when he became the sixth Gor Mahia player to have hit a brace in a continental assignment.
The left-footed forward scored in either half to hand Gor Mahia a 4-0 victory against Yanga SC on Wednesday at Kasarani Stadium.
But with fans still waiting to see whether Guikan will carry on with his new found form in Sunday’s Mashemeji Derby against AFC Leopards, Kerr still believes that the Ivorian export can do more.
“We won’t get carried away. He still needs to show more and more which I know he can,” Kerr said in a Twitter post.
It remains to be seen whether Kerr will hand Guikan another start with reports that George Odhiambo is available for selection after shaking off an injury scare.
Guikan joined the reigning Kenyan Premier League champions from Mauritius’ side AS Port Louis on a two-year deal in December 2017.
