Rwanda staring at Cecafa exit door, Ethiopia kick off on a high

Rwanda lost their second consecutive match in the ongoing Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup while Ethiopia kicked off her campaign on the right foot after beating South Sudan in the opening group B match on Tuesday

Rwanda who had lost 2-0 to Kenya in the opening group A clash, went down 3-1 to minnows Zanzibar in the second fixture on day three of the regional tournament that has attracted nine nations.

Amavubi who are using this tournament to prepare for the 2018 Chan Championship, are now staring at the exit door with two tough assignments against Libya and Tanzania still in the pipeline

Mutadhir Yahya, Kassim Khamis and Issa Juma scored Zanzibar’s goals to take the Islanders second in group A that is being controlled by host Kenya on four points.

On a day of mixed results, Libya registered their second consecutive draw of the tournament coming just a day after a stallemat against Tanzania in the opener.

Meanwhile, Ethiopia took full control group B after beating South Sudan 3-0 at Bukhungu Stadium.

Ethiopia made use of a draw between Uganda and Burundi in the opening match of the four-man group to open an early lead in the group.

Alemu Tilahun hit a brace in each half for Ethiopia to help his country collect maximum points.

Tilahun gave the victors the lead in the 27th minute before he completed his brace just a few minutes after the break.  Abdela Sani scored Ethiopia’s third goal in the 58th
