Porto suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Juventus in the first leg of their Champions League game on Wednesday night, but the misery continued after the game as the severity of Hector Herrera's foot injury was revealed.

The Mexico international was victim to a heavy tackle from Juve full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner on 50 minutes, but despite the severity of the injury, played on for the remainder of the game.

Photographs of Herrera's lacerated foot emerged on Twitter after the game, showing two huge gashes in the top of his left foot.

Goals from Marko Pjaca and Dani Alves gave Juventus a first leg victory after Alex Telles saw red for Porto. Herrera played the full game, and picked up a booking late on for a trip on Sami Khedira.

Herrera joined Porto in 2013 from Liga MX side Pachuca, and has played 46 times for Mexico since making his debut in 2012.
