Moleko welcomes competition for Kaizer Chiefs place from Mphahlele

Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko insists competition for places in defence is healthy following his rare start ahead of Ramahlwe Mphahlele against Acornbush United last weekend.

Moleko fell down the pecking order as soon as Mphahlele arrived at the start of the season from Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, he's continued to work hard to try and force Steve Komphela to play him again.

The 27-year-old revealed that Mphahlele has been helping him improve his game, saying they talk to each other a lot.

"It’s always good to get an opportunity to play," Moleko told the Amakhosi website. "It’s a healthy competition for the right-back slot," he said.

"We talk a lot with each other. Even during half time of the game against Acornbush, ‘Rama’ spoke with me, giving me some advice. He told me to sometimes make a run more straight towards the box," added Moleko.

There have been reports that Moleko could be leaving Amakhosi at the end of the season due to his lack of game under Komphela, although he appears to be one of the important players in the current squad.

Despite making three league appearances so this season, Moleko is forever in Komphela's 18-man matchday squads.
