Lyon slap €30m price tag on Monaco, Arsenal & Chelsea target Geubbles

Lyon have put a €30 million price tag on young prospect Willem Geubbels, Goal understands.

The forward has attracted the interest of many clubs around Europe, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, but it is Monaco who have most closely studied the 16-year-old forward.

Geubbels has turned down professional terms with the Parc OL club and is set to move in the summer, but OL are determined to make life as difficult as possible for their Ligue 1 rivals.

Discussions have recently been opened between the two sides, with Lyon demanding €30m plus bonuses for the young forward.

At this price, Monaco are ready to turn their nose up, as they do not wish to spend more on Geubbels than the €20m they splashed on young Italian striker Pietro Pellegri from Genoa.

Meanwhile, Lyon are ready to talk with RB Leipzig to negotiate a fee in the region of €15m.

OL president Jean-Michael Aulas, who had indicated he felt the player is worth €70m, previously explained: “Monaco have just cashed €300m or €400m, so they will pay for Geubbels… We’ll not give them any presents.”

The player and his father, meanwhile, do not want to leave for nothing as they would prefer for Lyon to be able to cash in on the guidance they gave to the player through there academy system and are hopeful that a middle ground can be found.

Geubbles, who has yet to appear for the first team, is not willing to be dictated by the whim of the club and is prepared to wait a year to see out his contract before leaving on a Bosman deal. That scenario, however, would not suit either party.
