KPL transfers: Sofapaka goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya leaves club on 'personal issues'

Sofapaka keeper Mathias Kigonya has ditched the club despite having a few months remaining on his contract.

Kigonya has confirmed to Goal that he has left Batoto ba Mungu on ‘personal issues’ and is now open to offers from clubs in Kenya and even abroad.

“It is true that I have left Sofapaka. It was on mutual agreement and now that I have six months remaining on my contract, the club has asked that I can leave if and when I get a new team.

“I want to thank the team for the support they gave me during my stay here and wish them all the best in the coming season. I can confirm that I am now open to offers either from here in Kenya or even abroad.”

The Ugandan keeper was very influential for Sofapaka during his time with the team. His exit comes days after the team also released striker Rodgers Aloro.
