Geoffrey Kondogbia cleared to swap France for Central African Republic

Geoffrey Kondogbia is eligible to represent the Central African Republic having been cleared by the Federation of International Football Association.

The 25-year-old had represented France in the U16 level down to the senior level – and played a key role as the country’s U20 side won the U20 World Cup in 2013.

Although he has played five games for Les Bleus at the senior level but they were not in competition – hence, the decision to switch allegiance to CAR.

Coach Raoul Savoy called him up for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Guinea on Sunday, but injury means the Valencia star’s debut will be on hold.

CAR are second in Group H and victory over the Syli National at the Stade du 28 Septembre, Conakry will brighten their chances of reaching their first Afcon.
