Spanish coach Gregorio Manzano has become one of the highest-earning managers in the world after taking over as coach of Chinese Super League outfit Guizhou Zhicheng - as much as Antonio Conte earns at Chelsea!
Messi team optimistic over ban appeal
According to Guizhou Metropolitan Daily, the former Sevilla and Atletico Madrid manager has signed a contract worth around €8 million a year with the task of making sure Guizhou Zhicheng remain in the division.
“Club owner Wen Wei will seek CSL survival at all costs. He won’t let his team suffer relegation,” the newspaper quoted him as saying.
Having lost three and drawn three of their opening games of the new season, Guizhou registered their first win of the current campaign last Friday - a 3-1 away win at Guangzhou R&F.
Manzano has previous experience in China, previously guiding Beijing Guoan to 2nd place in the 2014-15 campaign and Shanghai Shenhua to a respectable fourth place last season before being replaced by Gustavo Poyet.

Manzano's new salary sees his launched into the upper echelons of managerial salaries - some way off Pep Guardiola's eye-watering €17.7m at Manchester City, but as much as Chelsea's Antonio Conte who earns roughly the same amount (€8m) currently.
That could well increase soon should Conte succeed in leading Chelsea to the Premier League title, while it's unknown exactly how much Arsene Wenger has been offered with his new Arsenal deal. Wenger currently earns an estimated €9.8m, some way short of rival Jose Mourinho, who pockets €16.2m at Manchester United.
