Bonaventure’s brace steers Club Brugge to Belgian Cup victory

Denis Bonaventure bagged a brace in Club Brugge’s 5-1 trouncing of SV Roeselare on Wednesday night.

The Nigerian replicated his brilliant goalscoring form in the Belgian First Division A with two goals to guide Ivan Leko’s side to the next of the Belgian Cup.

Bonaventure lit the Stadion Schiervelde with the opener five minutes into the encounter, before Ruud Vormer doubled the lead for the visitors in the 16th minute.

The Nigerian forward completed his brace and made it 3-0 for the Blue-Black in the 30th minute as Wesley’s goal eight minutes later completed the first half bashing.

Davy Brouwers’ goal in the 42nd minute tried to the Divison B outfit back into the encounter but Jelle Vossen’s was alert to put finishing touches to Club Brugge’s victory with a fifth goal in the 82nd minute.

Bonaventure has scored four times in four league games for Club Brugge who lock horns with Sporting Charleroi for their next league outing on Sunday.
