Organizers of this year's Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup can now breathe a sigh of relief after GOtv came on board as title sponsors.
The company has committed Sh11.25million in cash towards the event and another Sh54million in kind towards the production of all 26 matches of the competition. According to GOtv Kenya General Manager Felix Kyengo, this support is part their commitment towards promoting football not only in Kenya but in the region as well.
"Our decision to partner with Cecafa is part of the efforts to promote football in the region,” Kyengo told Goal.
The General Manager of SuperSport East Africa Auka Gacheo said they will air all 26 matches live from the four venues earmarked.
"Our crew are ready to bring all the matches live from Nairobi, Machakos, Kisumu and Mombasa with the highest technology available.”
Football Kenya Federation President Sam Nyamweya said they have now received enough money to run the tournament. "Apart from this gesture from GOtv, we have received pledges from all the four governors whose counties will host the tournament.
“Other sponsors who have given us money are Coca-Cola (Sh6.5million), UAP (Sh5.5million) and we expect the government to also support us.”
