thumbnail Hello,

The former Harambee Stars captain returns to training whereas defender David Ochieng, Patrick Osiako and Brian ‘Niang’ Mandela report to camp

Harambee Stars camp preparing for the World Cup qualifier against Namibia on Sunday gained a major boost on Thursday with the arrival of three foreign-based players as well as the return to training of striker Dennis Oliech.

Oliech missed Wednesday’s training with a slight thigh problem and was given permission to rest by coach Adel Amrouche. However, the AC Ajaccio striker trained lightly on Wednesday morning.

Joining in the camp was defender David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng from Saudi Arabian side Al Tawuon, Patrick Osiako from Azerbaijan and Sanlam Santos FC defender Brian ‘Niang’ Mandela.

The national team trained for only an hour and a half as Amrouche took to the low down with match day nearing. The game will be played on Sunday at 4pm, though the only bearing it will have is the Fifa ranking placement of both teams.

Malawi and Nigeria will face off for a slot in the last qualifying round from the Group. A win for Malawi in Calabar will ensure the Flames pip Nigeria top the single spot while the Super Eagles only need a draw to ensure passage.
